Johan runs Arctic Gourmet cabins where he hosts clients in his two wilderness cabins and aims to impress and delight them with nightly creations served in Sweden’s smallest restaurant!
We first met Johan when he was the chef at Hotel Arctic Eden in Kiruna, a hotel we used to use a lot in the early days of our time sending clients to Swedish Lapland.
Johan had the idea of setting up Arctic Gourmet cabins and with the help of his previous boss Jan Grönberg set about building the two cabins and restaurant on spare land near his property. When we first visited and saw the unfinished cabins we were not sure how it would turn out but we need not have worried as the combination of honest comfortable accommodation with excellent food is just what many clients are looking for.
As our friend Ylva Forssén runs her husky kennel a few kilometres further into the Kalix River valley a stay with Johan and a few days of huskies with Ylva makes for a great short break in the Arctic.
Our Northern Lights Grand Slam break and our combination of the ICEHOTEL, Wilderness cabins and Huskies are the most popular ways you can get to experience this part of Swedish Lapland and benefit from Malin and Johan’s hospitality and great food!
