Our journey with them started around 2006, shortly after they bought the Abisko Mountain Lodge. I had a group who were interested in seeing the Northern Lights and our partner in Swedish Lapland advised ‘Well in that case there is only one place to go, and that’s Abisko!’

It’s hard to believe that Abisko, which is now so widely regarded as one of the best locations on earth for seeing the Northern Lights and is a mecca for aurora enthusiasts, was a backwater then and almost unheard of!

Suffice to say the following season we were the first tour operator to offer Abisko and broaden out the reach of the Aurora Sky Station to a wider audience. The rest is history and we are fortunate to work with Mina and Dick, two consummate professionals.

Dick is an accomplished Mountain guide, who has travelled extensively, taking clients on mountaineering trips and he also oversees the heli skiing operation at the lodge. Mina, on the other hand, runs the lodge and brings a ray of sunshine to Abisko. She has welcomed and looked after our guests for well over a decade now and we have seen how the lodge has become the pre-eminent place to stay in Abisko.

Mina’s passion is for good food and wine and she has assembled a skilled team who provide exquisite meals which clients remember for years!

We have more breaks linked into a stay at Abisko Mountain Lodge than anywhere else that we offer and this is simply the fact that we see the Northern Lights from the lodge more often than anywhere else so feel confident that when our clients ask us the inevitable question “I am doing this once and want to give myself the best possible chance of seeing the Northern Lights where do I go” – we confidently say Abisko.

Mina out exploring with the beloved dogs! Dick on skis and a bit of recreation time for two busy people.
