Hotel Ranga is the most
delightful 4 star hotel in the south of Iceland, and is very much known as THE
place in Iceland to go and see the Northern Lights. They even have a wake-up
call so if the Aurora's come out whilst you are asleep you don't miss out!
Having stayed there ourselves many times we know that the team at Hotel Ranga are so very committed to make sure you have a wonderful stay there. They really do have an American service attitude, and their restaurant is rated as one of the top restaurants in the country with people coming down from the capital just for dinner there! They also have 7 beautifully themed luxury suites ranging from Asia to Antarctica!
Their hot tubs are perfectly positioned so you can soak with a glass of wine in your hands and watch out for the Northern Lights after dinner. Finally they also have the most advanced observatory in the country with two high quality computerised telescopes so you can view the stars, Jupiter, Saturn and Mars and on clear nights an astrological expert on site to guide you as to what you are seeing.
As you can see we are slightly in love with this hotel, and we haven't even mentioned the best thing yet!! If you are looking for an off-roading super-jeep adventure where you can really experience the wilderness of Iceland then Hotel Ranga is the perfect base.
From here you can take a superjeep
tour to explore Eyjafjallajökull volcano or Porsmork Valley with it's glacial
